My Son and I

My son and I are very a like
We are both smart and even like to hike
We are both stubborn and always seemed to disagree
Sadly, I think that stubbornness caused my son to flee
To where he has gone, I do not know
Maybe he would be more careful with our dog Buckley in tow
I know he loves to explore the wild
He has ever since he was a small child
Every time I talked he would always disagree
He always thought he was right, never me
I wanted to buy him a car and he would say no
He would reply “I’m very happy with my Datsun you know.”
“Would you like a graduation gift?” I would ask
“No.” he would reply” gift giving is a useless task.”
So I pray to god my son I safe
Wherever he is at his resting place
I know he would be happy in the West
A wild place, somewhere he would love it the best
Maybe he went on an Alaskan Odyssey
The Alaskan wild now that is somewhere he could be free
Even though my son and I may disagree
I never wanted to see him flee from me
Even though I may not always show it to him the best
I want him to know, I love him more than the rest
